Overview
Jesse C. Newman, Jr. founded Newman Securities Company Inc. and is the president of the Newman Development Company in Overland Park, Kansas. This collection includes administrative papers of development projects and research in Kansas City, Kansas and Missouri and Nassau, Bahamas; materials related to the Japanese Cultural Arts Foundation of the Midwest's creation of an Asian conference center; and family photographs and other personal materials.

Biography of Jesse C. Newman, Jr.
Jesse C. Newman, Jr. graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Japanese History and Cultural Anthropology in Asian Studies. He was a part of the KU football team that won the Blue Bonnet Bowl in 1961.
Newman was the president of Newman Securities Company Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri from 1970 until 1982. He became the president of Newman Development Company in Overland Park, Kansas in 1983 and still holds that position. He has also been the president and chairman of the Japanese Cultural Arts Foundation of the Midwest.

Scope and Contents
The papers in this collection consist mostly of administrative papers concerning Newman's work with Newman Security Company Inc., Newman Development, and those companies' projects. These include company by-laws, project correspondence and plans, and development newspaper clippings in the Kansas City area. The floorplan for Newman's work in Crown Center Redevelopment Company is located at RH MS S61.
Also included are papers concerning the Japanese Cultural Arts Foundation of the Midwest. These materials consist largely of their plans, including funding plans, for an Asian Conference Center in Overland Park, KS that would include a Japanese-style hotel, museums, and libraries.
There are also a variety of personal materials included in the collection, including family photographs, newspaper clippings, correspondence, certificates, and other related items.
