Scope and Contents

Incipit: "Private. ... Dear Sir Upon reperusing your bright tribute..."

Corrections to your tribute to poor [Daniel Owen] Maddyn [died August 6, 1859]: description of his recent nervous attacks. Enclosing extract from M's letter acknowledging an autograph of Grattan's, and of another concerning the work he was preparing entitled "My Study Chair." [No enclosures.]

Your tribute to poor Lady Morgan [died April 14, 1859] observed that her services to Ireland had been forgotten. True; the Irish papers only dug up old slanders, and my researches find that she was abused all her life. So herewith for review an anonymous biography of her by me. Citations to the Athenaeum. Now regret my comical alliteration.
