 Collection — Volume: 1
Call Number: MS D122

Overview

Correspondence and documents between Cardinal de Foix, legate to Alfonso V; Alfonso V, king of Aragon (died 1458); and Pope Martin V (1368-1431). Dates covered in the volume are 1424-1430. Concerns the Council of Tortosa, 1429, in which Foix persuaded Alfonso and other backers of Clement VIII (1380?-1446), the anti-pope at the time, to support Martin V. This narrative apparently compiled on Foix's orders from his archives: see last leaf of manuscript. Places mentioned in the manuscript include Rome (Vatican), Saragossa, Avignon etc, Tortosa (Catalonia); this copy of the volume probably written in Italy.
