Scope and Contents
Dating: 35 Charles II is 1683; but June 15 was not a Tuesday in 1683 or 1684. The closest Tuesday is 1680, at which time there was not a Lord Keeper, but a Chancellor. Sir Francis North was Lord Keeper from December 20, 1682 to September 5, 1685; there was not another Lord Keeper until March 1693.
Based on this evidence, the cataloger has concluded that "Martis" is probably an error, and North is probably the Lord Keeper.
Incipit: Die Martis xv Junij Anno Regni Regis Car sod xxxv. Duke of Norffolke & al' versus Howard. Lord Keeper. I told you first I was under some prejudice in this Cause because I cannot chuse but remember what reasons I went upon when my Lord Chancellor commanded my Lord Cheife Justice Pemberton my selfe & my Lord Chiefe Baron that were then Common Law Judges to assist him at the hearing of the Cause... Soe that truely I think upon my present Apprehensions of this demurrer the Plea ought to be overruled and the former decree reversed [?].
Title on Leaf [i]: "Limitations of Trust. Duke of Norfolk, et al, versus Howard. (London, 1684?). Manuscript, 15 pages."
