Lives of 32 Medicis, 1360-1743; introduction on Medici ancestors 800-1400; pasquinade on Giovan Gaston's court (1737); list of pensioners of Giovan Gaston's court; genealogical tree of Medici family; life of Giuliano Dami; of Margaret of Austria; letters from the Signoria of Venice to Bianca Capello and her husband Grand Duke Francesco (June 17, 1579); death of Pieri Buonaventuri (Bianca's husband); Lorenzino's Apologia Concentrates on Cosimo (1389-1464), Giuliano (1453-1478), Leo. Clement VII, Alessandro (1510-1537), Cosimo I (1519-1574), Francesco (1541-1587), Ferdinand II (1610-1670), Ferdinand (1663-1713) and his wife Violante, Anna Luisa (1667-1743), and Giovan Gastone (1671-1737). Recounts scandal; describes in detail triumphal entries, marriage processions, funerals.
The Dedication (Al lettore) states that the compiler has transcribed "these four tomes" from another author, improving on them from an old manuscript, and that he may have mistranscribed some passages. But this manuscript(at least as presently bound) appears never to have had a fourth tome.
