Overview
This manuscript account book was apparently kept by the steward of a monastic house belonging to the religious order of the Ospitaliere di Santo Spirito. The entries for the purchase and sale of lambs, lambskins, pigeons, timber and grain are dated 1645-1650 and establish the location as the Puglia region of Italy. A manuscript vellum leaf from a 15th-century Missal of Italian origin has been re-used to form the binding of this paper account book. The title, "Riccordo Quotidiano," has been added to the front cover in a later hand. The entries have been written on 25 pages at the front of the codex. The rest of the leaves are blank, but parts or all of several leaves have been cut or torn away, indicating that some written entries formerly present now lack.
