History of Coordinating Committee of the Black Community
The Coordinating Committee of the Black Community (Ccbc) was founded in 1968 in Topeka, Kansas to "provide an organized means through which black people [could] speak out on all issues relating to minorities." The CCBCs goals included coordinating affairs and activities within the community, developing resources available to the community, promoting unity, and helping black organizations implement projects and programs.

Scope and Contents
The Coordinating Committee of the Black Community scrapbook dates from 1967 to 1974; it was compiled by Ccbc Executive Director Eva Lou Martin and then presented to Charles S. Scott, Sr, Chairman of the Board of Directors and founding member. It contains clippings (all of which are photocopies), meeting reports and programs, a Ccbc brochure, a Proclamation by Topeka Mayor Bill McCormick on the CCBC's 6th Anniversary, and a limited number of photographs. All photographs are identified on the page. The book itself consists of a plain black cover and cream colored pages.
