Letters from [Francis Gregory] Urquhart

 Collection
Call Number: MS P721

Overview

The writer of these letters, who signs himself as Urquhart, has been tentatively identified as Francis Gregory Urquhart (born at Craigstone, Aberdeenshire in 1813). At the time of these letters (February and March 1849), Urquhart was a captain in the Army. The first letter, written from Chatham, England, requests that an unidentified person associated with the press extend courtesies to allow his friend, Miss Mould, to attend some public amusements. In the second letter, Urquhart addresses an unidentified man and describes the results of a situation for which he may be unjustly court-martialed.
