Overview

John Whitwell (1812-1880), a carpet manufacturer and 6-time mayor of Kendal, writes to Alderman Fisher thanking him for sending Joseph Mayer's speeches to the Historic Society of Lancashire and Cheshire. There is also a leaflet printed in November 1877 by Joseph Mayer (1803-1886), a collector of antiquities and art.
