Biography of George Washington Carver

Born near Diamond, Missouri in 1864, George Washington Carver began life in slavery and ultimately became one of the world's greatest botanists, agricultural chemists, and educators. He helped restore prosperity to the agricultural South through the use of crop rotation to restore nutrient-depleted soils. He was an instructor at the Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama, until his death there on January 5th, 1943.
