Scope and Contents
The first leaf, recto, is for Sarah Shackleton from Mary Joseph Humphreys. The following leaf begins "Anna M Thorne of America when on a Religious Visit to this Nation in 3rd Mo 1836 during the Quarterly Meeting of Mountmelick (at the house of E. Beale) related the following particulars respecting her Grand-Mother Mary Griffin who died at the advanced age of 100 years. When about 8..."
Leaf 4 recto continues "...her Grand-daughter Anna M. Thorne. For further particulars of Mary Griffin, see first No Annual Monitor page 15' viz: The individual from whom the editor received the following account says From what I have heard..." The verso continues "...she spoke excellently'. A testimony of Nine Partners Monthly Meeting (North America) concerning our beloved ancient friend Mary Griffin deceased. She was born according to the best account we can have at Stonnington..."
The verso of leaf 7 states "...the joy of my Lord'-- Signed in and on behalf of Nine Partners Monthly Meeting the 18th of 4th Mo 1811 by Philip Hoeg) Phile Howes) clerks." Leaf 8 is blank.
