The whaling bark Roscoe's maiden voyage was made in 1833[?]. The bark's long career stretched from 1833[?]-1872. The specific voyage this journal records was made in 1839 when the Roscoe traveled across the Indian Ocean. The bark carried a large amount of whale oil, as well as other provisions such as flour, pork, beef, rice, butter, etc. The Roscoe visited the port of New Bedford, Massachusetts frequently during her travels. The bark's last voyage ended when she was crushed in the Arctic ice on August 19, 1872.
