Scope and Contents
This collection of 232 legal documents, primarily in Latin, relates to families in various Italian cities: Venice, Padua, Cittadella, etc. The families most often referred to are Da Ponte, Michiel, Loredan and Ferro, but there are also references to the Capello, da Porto, Trissino, Badoer, Seratico, Fortebraccio, Mauroceno, Foscolo, Premarin, Bragadin, Marcello, Priuli, Barbo, Bembo, Gradenigo, Morosini, Corner, Contarini, Vianol, Trevisan, Sanudo, da Mosto,Vendra min, Foscarin, and other families.
The documents are mostly notarial instruments and cartulary fragments. There are several items per folder in each box. The dates of writing range from 1342-1764, but the bulk of the documents were written in the 1500s. The content covers the period from the 1200s to 1764.
