The volumes appear to be a 1920 version of Phillips' typescript, heavily annotated in various hands with additional information and editing marks. They include references to "Supplement" and have at least one manuscript addition with the date 1928.

Scope and Contents
Volumes 2-19 have title-pages reading: A descriptive list of books and magazine articles relating to maps, map-makers and views by Philip Lee Phillips, Chief, Division of Maps, Library of Congress.
Each letter of the alphabet is paged separately. The collection inventory provided in this finding aid shows preliminary leaves and first and last numbered leaf only; extra inserted leaves not recorded except in vol. 19.
Acquired from the Library of Congress in 1956 in connection with the participation of a University of Kansas Geography graduate student, Larry Sharp, in the Library of Congress Surplus Map Distribution program.
