Letter to Mr. Walter.
Overview
James Hackett served as a lieutenant in the British Army during the Napoleonic Wars and later as a first lieutenant of the Venezuela Artillery Brigade. He wrote a book, Narrative of the expedition which sailed from England in 1817, to join the South American patriots, about his experiences in South America which was published in 1818. In this letter written from 55 Great Queen Street, Lincoln's Inn, Hackett apologizes to his friend, Mr. Walter, for his tardiness in sending Walter a copy of the book and hopes that he will accept it now with his good wishes.
