Biography of Melba McAdams Mayo
Melba McAdams Mayo was born August 2, 1920 at Clyde (Cloud County), Kansas to Del and Clara (Oelker) McAdams. Her father died in 1922, and the family moved to Nebraska in 1925. For a number of years, she returned occasionally to Clyde, Kansas to visit family members still living there. Melba Mayo died in October 1998 at Seattle, Washington.

This photocopied 13-page typescript is a memoir and family history by Melba McAdams Mayo, a native of Clyde, Kansas. The undated history and memoir includes many anecdotes regarding the lives of the author's Mittelstaedt, Oelker, and McAdams family ancestors as residents of Clyde, Kansas in the 1800s and early 1900s, as well as recollections of her own childhood in the 1920s while living in Clyde.
