Papers of Reverend William Poole
Overview
These papers were removed from a 37 volume set of Histoire ecclesiastique written by Claude Fleury (1691-1758) of Paris, France. William Poole's bookplate is pasted in volume one of the set. Among the papers is a letter from Frederick S. Warren, traveling secretary of the National Society for Promoting the Education of the Poor in the Principles of the Established Church, and addressed to Reverend William Poole. Other papers include notes on church history and translations of a few parts of the text of the set from French to English.

Biography of Reverend William Poole
William Poole, 3rd son of Edward Poole of Stretton Grandison, matriculated to Oriel College at Oxford University in 1837 at the age of 17. He received his B.A. in 1841 and his M. A. in 1845. As of 1854 he was serving as curate in Hereford and Hentland and, in 1857, as prebendary of Hereford cathedral.
