Overview

This collection consists of three brief essays, separately bound, on the Bank of England and its power to issue Scottish notes. The items were collected by C.V. Gerritsen. One essay, "Capital and Currency: Leading Positions," was written by one individual; the other two essays regarding advantages and privileges of the Bank of England, were written by a different unidentified author.

These manuscripts were bound uniformly around 1883, sold as a group for 18/- (18 shillings sterling; perhaps under the title "Thoughts on Currency"), acquired by C.V. Gerritsen as no. 148 (166), acquired from him by John Crerar Library, circa 1905 and marked as JC L332.5/1; JO L 332.0942 K1 (Advantages) and K2 (Privileges).
