History of Second Missionary Baptist Church
In 1873 seven Junction City residents received a charter for the First Colored Baptist Church. In 1884, after a fire destroyed the original building on West Sixth Street, the congregation built a new building on the present site, at the corner of 10th and Clay site. Under Reverend G. T. Raimer, the church was rechartered as the Second Baptist Church in 1938. In 1960, the present church structure was opened. Twelve years later, the Church name changed for the last time to it's present Second Missionary Baptist Church.

The Second Missionary Baptist Church records date from 1929-1988 and are arranged in three series: Committees, General, and Membership. Committees include meeting minutes and general information on various committee's and boards. General information consists of meeting minutes, correspondence, and Sunday school information. Membership consists mainly of church rosters/rolls and member record books. Within each series, folder arrangement is alphabetical.
