Biography of Brian Beatty
Brian Beatty received his Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Kansas in 2006. Prior to coming to KU, he received his master's degree in anatomy from Howard University and a bachelor's degree in zoology with a minor in geology at the University of Florida.
Beatty served as the curatorial assistant in the Division of Vertebrate Paleontology at the University of Kansas Natural History Museum and Biodiversity Research Center while working on his doctorate; he continues as a research collaborator with the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History and a research associate for both the Virginia Museum of Natural History and KU's Natural History Museum. Beatty has also served as managing editor of PalArch's Journal of Vertebrate Palaeontology since 2005.
Brian Beatty specializes in evolutionary biology, paleontology, anatomy, and paleopathology and has been an assistant professor at the New York Institute of Technology since 2006.
