Overview

Reies López Tijerina, born September 21, 1926, was a leader in the 1960s struggle to restore New Mexican land grants to the descendants of their Spanish colonial and Mexican owners. These two 1969 news reports regarding Tijerina and his ethnic nationalism include the script of a NBC News segment titled "The Most Hated Man in New Mexico," and an article from the National Observer.
