Overview
This collection includes glass plate negatives from the Olsen family farm and the Concord Schoolhouse near Horton, Brown County, Kansas. The photographs were taken by Ole J. Olsen. All negatives have corresponding prints made after Spencer Research Library received the collection.

History of the Olsen family
Hans Christian Olsen, born in 1861, had several children, including sons Ole, Henry, Christian, Karl, and Bennett and daughters Martha, Marie, and Bergit. The family owned a farm north of Horton, Brown County, Kansas, near what was Concord School District #1, organized in 1896 under the name Harmony School. Ole J. Olsen was born July 22, 1887 in Willis, a little northeast of the family farm, and died May 26, 1971.
