History of the Douglas County Genealogical Society

The Douglas County Genealogical Society (Dcgs) was formed in the fall of 1975 by a group of Lawrence, Kansas locals who felt they could be more successful researching and studying their family histories in a group through mutually providing assistance. The goal of the society was to form a common library of basic genealogical books and to sponser workshops and lectures of various topics that related to family history research.
