This collection consists of correspondence between University of Kansas William Allen White School of Journalism staff member James E. Dykes and his collaborators across the United States in the American Academy of Advertising (AAA). The AAA is an organization of advertising scholars and professionals with an interest in advertising and advertising education.

Biography of James E. Dykes
James Edgar Dykes was the head of the advertising sequence at the University of Kansas's William Allen White School of Journalism from 1953-1973. From 1960-1966, Dykes was the regional dean of the American Academy of Advertising in district nine, comprising Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska. A native of Alabama, Dykes attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri and the Alabama Polytechnic Institute in Auburn. He taught at the Texas Technological College from 1950-1953. He was born in 1920 and died in 1998 at the age of 78 in Florida.
