The collection was exhibited at the University of Kansas Libraries and then presented by Mr. Henry in 1944. Custody of the collection then passed to the KU French Department, and thence by stages back to the library. Some items were placed in the Department of Special Collections before 1971 and given preliminary identification as MS P141. In 1976, the remainder of the collection was placed in the department and all portions were combined into the present MS 144.
The scrapbook volume located at MS E280 was donated to Watson Library in or prior to 1949. University Archives transferred the volume to Special Collections in 2019 so that it could be kept with the collection housed at MS 144.
