Biographies of Ruth Bloom and Larry Eigner

Ruth Bloom was a cousin of poet Larry Eigner and admired his poetry, collecting many of his works, both published and unpublished, in her home library.

American poet Larry (Laurence Joel) Eigner was born in 1927 in Swampscott, Massachusetts where he lived for the first 50 years of his life until 1978, when he moved to Berkeley, California. He was a prolific poet, publishing numerous monographs and contributing to countless periodicals and poetry compilations. Having been influenced by the Beat Poets, Eigner used an open form of poetry, a technique ascribed to the Black Mountain Poets. This group of writers published in The Black Mountain Review, an experimental magazine printed by Black Mountain College in North Carolina. Eigner's later work was associated with and an influence on the Language Poets. Eigner died in 1996.
