Robertson, chronicles the events of the United Spanish War Veterans and Auxiliary Kansas department convention, May 10-21, 1946 in Emporia, Lyon County, Kansas. History of the United Spanish War Veterans

In 1904 the United Spanish War Veterans joined together several smaller groups of veterans who fought in three wars: the Spanish-American War (1898-1899); the Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902); and the Chinese Relief Expedition, also known as the Boxer Rebellion (1900-1901).

The first group of United Spanish War Veterans in Kansas met in 1905 and formed a department (state organization) by 1907.

The purpose of the fraternal organization was to unite those who had fought in the wars, to honor the memory of those who had died, to help the members and their families and to perpetuate the memory of the wars fought.

The United Spanish War Veterans ceased to exist in 1992 when its last member died.
