Overview
Collection of memorabilia collected by Adah Clarke (later Adah C. Hagan?) while a student in the Max Reinhardt Workshop at Los Angeles, California, circa 1939. Largely mimeographed and otherwise copied, the collection also includes some manuscripts, sketches, photos, etc. Includes class notes, annotated scripts, prop lists, and other related materials. Many individual items incomplete. Almost all items include typed explanations by Adah Clarke.

History of the Max Reinhardt Workshop
Noted Austrian theatre and film director Max Reinhardt came to the United States in the late 1930s after Austria was annexed by Nazi Germany. He went to Los Angeles, California and established a workshop for aspiring actors, providing classical theatrical training. The Hollywood-based workshop closed in 1942 for financial reasons, and Max Reinhardt died in New York from a stroke in 1943.
