This collection contains scrapbook material that was apparently never assembled into a scrapbook: photographs, ephemera, newspaper clippings, and letters to and from Gilbert H. Finlay, the Grand Patron of the Order of the East Star for the Kansas state chapter.

Biography of Gilbert H. Finlay
Gilbert Hamilton "Pat" Finlay was born March 26, 1913 in Osage County, Kansas to Thomas and Florence Finlay. He married Naoma Alcorn on September 8, 1934 in Osage County. In the early 1950s, they resided at Medicine Lodge, Kansas, then at Dodge City, Kansas, and in 1960 moved to Augusta, Kansas.
The Finlays were members of chapters of the Order of the Eastern Star (O.E.S.) at each of the communities in which they resided. Gilbert Finlay served as Grand Sentinel of the Grand Chapter of Kansas, O.E.S. from 1966 to 1967. He and his wife then served as Worthy Grand Patron and Worthy Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of Kansas. In October 1989, Mr. Finlay received the Supreme Council's Thirty-Third and last Degree of the Scottish Rite Masonry. He died on August 26, 2001 at Augusta.
