Farmers State Bank and Overland Park State Bank telegrams
Overview
These five telegrams to the Farmers State Bank of Lenexa, Kansas and the Overland Park State Park (Overland Park, Kansas) in early March 1933 contain instructions for restrictions on withdrawals of deposits, as well as mandated bank holidays. Issued in conjunction with President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Emergency Banking Act, approved by the U.S. Congress on March 9, 1933, these telegrams to Johnson County, Kansas banks were issued by Kansas Governor Alf M. Landon, Kansas Bank Commissioner H. W. Koeneke, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.
