Biography of Leonard Magruder (1928-2015)

Leonard MacKenzie Magruder was born in 1928 in Havana, Cuba to Nathaniel and Helen (MacKenzie) Magruder. He received his Masters in Psychology from Southern Methodist University. He was a Professor of Psychology at Suffolk College, New York until he retired in 1983, later moving to Lawrence, Kansas.

Magruder focused on researching how public opinions of Vietnam veterans were shaped by academia. He founded the Vietnam Veterans for Academic Reform organization, despite not being a veteran himself.

Leonard M. Magruder died in 2015 and was survived by his daughter, Helen Hausmann.
