History of the Baker Street Journal

The Baker Street Journal is a quarterly journal published by The Baker Street Irregulars that features material of Sherlockian interest, both serious and more informal. Established in 1946 by Edgar W. Smith, the Baker Street Journal is dedicated to the “ongoing study and promotion of Sherlock Holmes,” and features the work of both prominent and non-prominent Sherlock Holmes scholars. Smith served as the chief editor from 1946 to 1960 and was followed by Dr. Julian Wolff from 1961 to 1977. John M. Linsenmeyer, Peter E. Blau, Philip A. Schrefler, William R. Cochran, Donald K. Pollack, and Steven Rothman have since served as chief editors.
