Ava Higley Milett photographs
Overview
This collection contains six photographs of schools in Atchison and Leavenworth Counties in Kansas from 1922 to 1925 and in the 1940s, including the Pardee School, Lane School, Delaware School, Bell School, and Mound School. Collection includes photograph description and identifications of students and teachers standing outside the schools. Ava Higley Milett appears as a student or teacher in all the photographs.

Biography of Ava Higley Milett (1912-1989)
Ava E. Higley Milett was born in 1912 in Atchison County, Kansas. Milett worked as a school teacher at the Delaware School, Bell School, and Mound School in Leavenworth County, Kansas, circa 1941 to 1962. Milett was also the owner of Ava's Bridal Salon in Lawrence, Kansas from 1962 to 1975 and served in many community clubs and groups in Lawrence. Milett pased away in 1989.
