History of the Graham Ice Cream Company

The Graham Ice Cream Company was a confectionary and ice cream plant in Omaha, Nebraska, established on September 26, 1915 by Howard Brownlee Graham (1870-1952), an Omaha "druggist," or pharmacist, and businessman. Graham operated and owned a candy bus from 1900 until 1904, when he sold it to another confectionary seller. He was president of the Graham Ice Cream Co. for the duration of its existence and became a well-known and prominent businessman in the Omaha area. In 1921, Russell C. Stover and Christian Nelson signed an agreement on the production and marketing of their invention ‘Eskimo Pies’ on the letterhead of Graham Ice Cream Company, where they held their meeting.

Howard B. Graham went on to own and operate several other confectionary plants, including another ice cream company and a bottling company. In the 1930s he invented, designed, and patented the first ever "ice cream route wagon" (the predecessor to the ice cream truck). In 1935 the general manager of Graham’s original ice cream company was E.A. Middlekauff.

The company appears to have been dissolved around the time that Graham retired in the 1940s.
