Scope and Contents
This is an artificial record group created by archives staff. It includes records describing activities and organizations of faculty and staff generally at the University of Kansas, as well as individual KU faculty. It also includes official portraits and staff pictures from the Lawrence Journal World and the university itself.
In particular, the record group focuses on professional development activities, including the Wheat State Whirlwind Tour, and awards given to faculty or staff. This includes materials related to the Byron Shutz Award, the Kemper fellowship, and Distinguished Teaching Awards. Press releases, internal correspondence, procedural documents, and lists of winners make up these boxes.
Finally, the record group includes personnel handbooks and procedural guides about school and university policy, as well as general information about faculty and staff, including a list of female staffers at the University of Kansas dating from the 1970s at the height of the women's movement on-campus.
