Scope and Contents

Volume includes an introduction and eight chapters, one for each grandparent. The chapters include narrative text providing contextual information surrounding historical events that led to the families immigrating to the United States, along with footnotes, citations for general references, areas for further research, and genealogical charts for the specific family members included in the volume. There are also copies of color and black and white photographs, maps, census pages, and other documents interpersed throughout the volume.

Grandparents and their ancestors described in the volume include, on Ken Stoner's side, George Lewes (Lewis), who came from England; Johannus (Hans or John) Steiner, later Stoner, who came from Switzerland; Hugh Greenough, who came from England; and Jacobus Andreas Schoeni, who came from Switzerland. Grandparents and their ancestors described in the volume on Ruth Ann Schahan's side include Nels Jensen (John Nelson), who came from Denmark; Cornelius Shehan, who came from Ireland; Andrew Christensen, who came from Denmark; and Karen Marian or Marie Pedersen, who came from Denmark.

The volume was originally compiled in 1984 for Ken Stoners' parents' 40th anniversary. He updated and expanded the volume in December 2019, notably to include genealogies for his wife's grandparents. Stapled to the beginning of the volume is a single page of corrections for errors found after compilation.
