All scrapbooks include PTA mailings and newspaper clippings to do with the organization or Pinckney School. Some include class pictures and PTA year books.

The 1965-66 scrapbook is in its original form, but the others have been rehoused and pages often laminated, presumably by Janet Reeder, the school librarian that donated the collection to the Kenneth Spencer Research Library. Those with oversize pages that were taller than their volumes have been disassembled and removed to folders in box 2, while the others remain in 14x13" volumes.

 File — Box: 13, Folder: 1-7

There are two 2006-2007 scrapbooks. The second one, in folder 3, includes the “Pinckney School History” by Mei Mei Montgomery and Janet Reeder written for the 75th Anniversary, celebrated on Saturday May 5, 2007. The history covers the original building built in 1872, the new building built in 1931, and various renovations over the years.

The history recounts a student-planned Langston Hughes Day on February 1, 1991. The students named the school library the Langston Hughes Library for Children in honor of the poet and author, who attended the 2nd grade at Pinckney when it was still segregated, in 1909. The dedication was accompanied by community events marking the two homes where Hughes lived with his grandparents, Charles and Mary Langston, at 732 Alabama and 731 New York, as well as placing headstones on their unmarked graves in the Oak Hill Cemetary.

The history also mentions that Janet Reeder, the school librarian, refurbished the older Pinckney scrapbooks in this collection in 2006, adding information donated by former students. She also had the art in the building appraised and restored at that time.
