Manuscript fragments removed from book bindings
Overview
Fragments and scraps of manuscripts, including texts, letters, sheet music, and other items. These items were removed from book bindings of books held by the Kenneth Spencer Research Library in the Special Collections. Fragments were typically removed from those bindings when the Library sent items out for conservation or rebinding in the mid-20th century. Many of the books can be found in the Summerfield collection of Renaissance and Early Modern books, which consists of volumes printed on continental Europe between 1455 and 1700.
