Overview

A short essay describing education in the rural one-room school. The paper draws primarily from experiences of Alberta Hadl Cowles, who taught in the 1930s in a one-room school in Douglas County, Kansas. The essay, written by Mary Jardon, took third place in the 1982 Kansas History Contest sponsored by the Douglas County Historical Society.
