Biography of Eugene Leslie Haynes

Eugene Leslie Haynes (1890-1983), son of Albert F. and Dora Haynes, was born in Kincaid, Kansas. In 1911, he graduated from Ottawa University where he met Harry Winfield Keene. The two men later opened the Haynes & Keene business firm, which specialized in shoe sales. Their store was located at 745 Massachusetts from 1915-1919 and then at 819 Massachusetts in Lawrence, Kansas.

Haynes married Bertha (1888-1971) in 1916. They had one son, Robert, who died at sea during military service in 1945.
