Has a bad cold, the regiment lost 17 men while in Saint Louis and many more are now sick. Willson got discharged, John Gideon is sick, and Thomas is dead from a fever. He is tired of war and speculating they are prolonging the war to free the slaves. Sent home $5, but has not received any more. If he does not make it back, he will see everyone in heaven, March 8, 1863

He wants Nancy to see Isabell about his affairs and sent $35 by John Strong to Nancy. Thomas Craft also sent $30 with John Strong to Martha Craft, but kept $10 for clothes
