Has a bad cold, the regiment lost 17 men while in Saint Louis and many more are now sick. Willson got discharged, John Gideon is sick, and Thomas is dead from a fever. He is tired of war and speculating they are prolonging the war to free the slaves. Sent home $5, but has not received any more. If he does not make it back, he will see everyone in heaven, March 8, 1863
