Includes an article about Jan Hendrick Marsman (1892-1956), who owned the Marsman Mining Company for which Edgar Begole worked, and a Wikipedia article about the Santo Tomas Internment Camp, in operation from January 1942 through February 1945. The articles were printed from the internet in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

Papers from the Santo Tomas Internment Camp include memoranda, notices, newsletters, Elizabeth Begole’s First Aid test and certification, maps of the camp, and recipes. These documents were created by various internee committees to deal with food and textile distribution, safety and sanitation, first aid, schooling, building and correspondence. Some are typed on the backs of student papers from when the compound was a university.

Includes a birth certificate for Michael Begole, dinner menus, theater and orchestra programs, a Japanese calisthenics flyer with English and Japanese writing, and a newsletter from New York about relief for Americans in the Philippines.

Items include handmade Christmas tags (housed in an envelope), a child’s crayon drawings, punched meal tickets, food and cigarette packages, cards, parcel receipts, message forms from the International Red Cross, a camp leadership election ballot, and draft notes edited to fit length and censorship requirements.

Includes American magazine pages from Mademoiselle and Better Homes and Gardens from before the occupation and newspaper articles supporting Japanese military efforts during the occupation.
