Correspondents include Agnes, Au Bon Marché, M. Bayle, and Robert Boname. The letter from Agnes was in an envelope along with a poem[?] written on the back of a Shakespeare and Company invitation to an Edith Sitwell reading.

Includes Beach's initial letter of engagement, hiring van Meter as an assistant, letters commending her efficient running of the bookshop, and numerous later letters thanking van Meter for her generosity in sending houshold items that were treasured in wartime Paris.

One letter explains that Sylvia Beach was unable to write and includes a news clipping about the death of Dr. Sylvester Beach, Sylvia's father.

Beach tells of the death of her partner, Adrienne Monnier, in a 1955 letter.
