Helen Foresman Spencer papers

Overview Helen Foresman Spencer was the wife of Kansas City industrialist Kenneth Aldred Spencer. Following her husband's death in 1960, Mrs. Spencer became president and director of the charitable foundation which they established in 1949. Overview Fragments and scraps of manuscripts, including texts, letters, sheet music, and other items. These items were removed from book bindings of books held by the Kenneth Spencer Research Library in the Special Collections. Fragments were typically removed from those bindings when the Library sent items out for conservation or rebinding in the mid-20th century. Personal papers of Ann Hyde

This collection contains the personal papers of Ann Hyde, who worked at the Kenneth Spencer Research Library on the University of Kansas' campus for many years. Hyde played a key role in the translation of Anglo-Saxon documents discovered in the Spencer during her time as an undergraduate student. Documents relating to this discovery are included within this collection, as are correspondence, records related to her education, and other personal materials.
