Overview Family correspondence and documentation represents about half of this collection of the Baur family papers. Most of the letters were written during the World War II years. The other half of the collection represents the community activities and interests of Edward Jackson Baur and his wife, Lillian Jacoby Baur. Mr. Baur, a University of Kansas Sociology Professor, was a member of the American Civil Liberties Union and Common Cause and addressed many concerns local to Lawrence, Kansas. ...

Max D. Movsovitz papers

Overview Topeka resident Max D. Movsovitz was cited on April 28, 1995 for sexual solicitation in Topeka's Gage Park. He was fined and ordered to stay out of the Park for two years. Movsovitz fought the charges, claiming that the Topeka ordinance was unconstitutional. Movsovitz lost his case but took it to the Court of Appeals and finally to the Supreme Court of Kansas where he ultimately lost.
