Sayre taught in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Kansas from 1885-1925. This collection consists of correspondence, articles, and essays from the 1920s written by Sayre, as well as Sayre's 1869 diary from when he was a student at the University of Philadelphia. The 1920s materials focus on medicinal chemistries, drugstores, and other topics related to Sayre's work.

The records of the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy are comprised of its four academic departments: Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology and Toxicology, and Pharmacy Practice.
