Biography of Lucius E. Sayre
Lucius Elmer Sayre received his Ph.G. in 1866 and his Ph.M. in 1869, both from the University of Philadelphia. He joined the faculty of the School of Pharmacy at the University of Kansas upon its establishment in 1885, the third public school of pharmacy in the United States and KU's first professional program. He performed wide research on medicinal plants native to Kansas throughout his tenure at KU. He also held appointments with the Kansas State Boards of Health and Agriculture.
