Erica Hill completed this Girl Scout oral history project in the summer of 1996 and was given the highest scout honor, the Gold Award, for her work. The project includes 3 interviews with former scouts and their reminiscences of scouting from the 1930s-1950s.

This collection comprises the records of Girl Scout councils representing northeast Kansas, and particularly Douglas County, from the early years of Girl Scouting in the area in the 1920s through the beginning of the 21st century.

Carol Buhler Francis was a longtime resident of Lawrence, Kansas, and an active member of the community.
