Humphrey, Lyman Underwood, 1844-1915

The volume contains clippings from various Kansas newspapers addressing the suitability of Humphrey for the governorship. Also included in the volume are inaugural memorabilia and a congratulatory letter from John J. Ingalls, Vice-President of the United States, dated January 20, 1889.

This collection is composed primarily of correspondence and business forms relating to John Gilmore's activities as a newspaper publisher, journalist, state legislator, and a confidant of state governors.

Humphrey was governor of Kansas, 1888-1892. This collection of correspondence and documents, which is arranged chronologically, covers the period from 1872 to 1906.
